Results
During the period 13-26 March 2005, a six (6) hour Tractor/Mower Operator Safety Program (Cutting Edge Safety Training) in each of the six Engineer/Maintenance districts in Mississippi (Department of Transportation). In total, approximately 180 MS State employees from all across the state participated in the training. Pre-test (completed by students at start of our program) and post course test results are below by location in order of when presented.:

The discussions held during the training (including our safety self-assessment exercise) and the written test results clearly show their was knowledge transfer and understanding of the coursework by the participants.
Participant written comments on evaluation sheets completed after course final examination were ALL positive. Comments included the following:
- "...all operators need to see this training program..."
- '...I learned alot from this course..others would too..."
- "...I now know how to be safer when on my mower and tractor cutting on the highway..."
- "...Equipment operators need to see and have this training..."
- "...all employees dealing with mowing should have this training..."
- "...instructor was very knowledgeable...he knew this stuff..."
Positive feedback letters concerning the value of the training received from MS D.O.T. District Supervisors who attended the course were received.
